    • How long does it take to complete the program?

      Full time students complete the MA Gulf Studies program in two years, as long as they take three courses per semester (a total of 9 credits per semester).

      Full time PhD students can complete the program in three or four years, depending on their academic background.


    • What is the language of instruction?

      All courses are only offered in English. 

    • When are classes offered? Can I work full time and be a student?

      Classes are only offered in the evening (5-8 pm). Each course meets once a week, so most full time students have class three nights a week. Many of the Gulf Studies program students work full time in addition to their studies.

    • What is the program’s tuition?

    • Are scholarships available?

      While financial scholarships are not currently available, work study opportunities are available on a competitive basis. You can find out more information by downloading the guidelines, as well as the application.

    • How do I apply to the Gulf Studies program?

      Click here  for application information and requirements. The program offers both Fall semester admission.

    • I am an international student applying from abroad. What do I need to do to get a student visa if I am accepted?
      1. International students must submit the required documentation for student visas when applying for the MA Gulf Studies program. A list of the required documentation is available here.  International students will submit two sets of documents:

        • admission requirements for the MA or PhD Gulf Studies program
        • required documents for the  student visa.
      2. Please note that international applicants who do not already live in Qatar will not be required to submit a health certificate or photocopy of the applicant’s Qatar ID card to apply for the program. (Admitted international students will obtain these documents once in Doha).
    • Can I live in student housing?

      Yes, QU offers graduate housing in male and female dormitories. for more information
