The conditions, policies and procedures, mentioned in this page, are only related to the financial aid services that are financed by Qatar University such as monthly financial aid, tuition fees aid, housing fees aid, transportation fees aid exemption, emergency aid, and incentive aid for academically distinguished Qatari students with low income.

Financial Aid Conditions
For Qatari, Qatari Travel Document Holder, Qatari Parents, or Qatari Husband student who want to apply for one of the financial aid types offered by Qatar University, the following conditions must be met:
- Priority for financial aid is given to those with a cumulative GPA above 2.00, in accordance with the approved academic rules, regulations and policies. The students admitted at the university to the first semester is exempted from this condition.
- The average income per family member should not be over QR 5000 from the guardian's total salary. The only monthly deductions that are considered from the salary are related to monthly housing rent based on notarized rent contract by the ministry of municipality, monthly retirement payment, and the monthly payment of Government-sponsored and funded housing loans provided to Qatari nationals through Qatar Development Bank.
- The Committee may take into account some special/exceptional circumstances of the family when calculating the average income per family member. For example:
- The presence of a sibling with a disability.
- The presence of siblings at any university in Qatar whose tuition fees are paid by the guardian.
- The siblings' fees of private schools in Qatar if paid by the guardian.
- The obligations of personal or real estate loans for housing in Qatar.
- The guardian's total salary mentioned in point number (2) is calculated as follow:
- In case both parents (father and mother) are working: The father's total salary and half of the mother's total salary will be calculated as the guardian's total salary.
- In case the mother is working while the father is absent for some reason (death, divorce, or any other reason), or he does not work and does not have a monthly income according to his bank statement for last 6 months: Half of the mother's total salary will be calculated as the guardian's total salary.
- The student must be registered at the bachelor degree level.
- Foundation level students can apply for financial aid services for a maximum of two semesters starting from the first term of application, including withdrawal, and leave of absence semesters for any reason.
- Siblings over the age of 24 are not counted towards the number of family members unless they are undergraduate students, even if they are not working.
- The student may apply to a combination of the following financial aid types: monthly financial aid, full or partial transportation fees aid, full or partial QU housing fees aid (if any), , and laptop loan service if it is available at the intended term.
- Only Qatari students may apply for emergency aid. This aid is a lump sum disbursed once during the semester for a Qatari student who meets the eligibility criteria for financial aid and exposed to emergency and unforeseen financial circumstances such as: emergency medical condition, fires, traffic accidents or any other accidents.
- In case there is sufficient financial resources, we might provide Incentive Aid for Qatari students who fulfill the financial aid eligibility criteria and are placed on Vice President List.
- Complete the Online financial aid application and upload all the required documents before the deadline for the intended service.
- Submitting the application does not mean it is accepted, all students may track their online application approval status through Banner self-service.
- The duration of all financial aid applications that meet the conditions is two academic years (four semesters). Once it is expired, the student must submit another application to update the documents and study his/her case again, except for some special cases that the committee decides to give them less than two academic years due to reasons related to the unstable family situation, which need every semester or annual follow-up.
- The criterion of student participation in student life activities such as; student participation in volunteer work at Qatar University, joining one of Qatar University sports team and obtaining co-curricular student awards can be used as a mean of differentiating/comparing between students when needed by the relevant committee.
For Non-Qatari students with a family residence permit or working with any government or private institution, have internal scholarship, and want to apply for one of the financial aid types offered by Qatar University, the following conditions must be met:
- Priority for financial aid is given to those with a cumulative GPA above 2.00, in accordance with the approved academic rules, regulations and policies. The students admitted at the university to the first semester is exempted from this condition.
- The average income per family member should not be over QR 3500 from the guardian's total salary. The only monthly deduction that is considered from the salary is related to monthly housing rent based on notarized rent contract by the ministry of municipality.
- The Committee may take into account some special/exceptional circumstances of the family when calculating the average income per family member. For example:
- The presence of a sibling with a disability.
- The presence of siblings at any university in Qatar whose tuition fees are paid by the guardian.
- The siblings' fees of private schools in Qatar if paid by the guardian.
- The obligations of personal or real estate loans for housing in Qatar.
- The guardian's total salary mentioned in point number (2) is calculated as follow:
- In case both parents (father and mother) are working: The father's total salary and half of the mother's total salary will be calculated as the guardian's total salary.

Provided that the student is entitled for monthly financial aid if he/she paid the full tuition fees for every semester or he/she requested to apply for monthly financial aid service instead of partial or full settlement tuition fees aid service.
- Complete the Online financial aid application and upload all the required documents before the deadline for the intended service.
- Submitting the application does not mean it is accepted, all students may track their online application approval status through Banner self-service.
- The duration of all financial aid applications that meet the conditions is two academic years (four semesters). Once it is expired, the student must submit another application to update the documents and study his/her case again, except for some special cases that the committee decides to give them less than two academic years due to reasons related to the unstable family situation, which need every semester or annual follow-up.

For international students who have QU study residence permit with QU external scholarship that includes monthly salary benefit, the following conditions must be met:
- The student must be registered at the bachelor degree level or Arabic Program for Non-Native Speaker
- The student is eligible to apply for monthly salary only.
- If the student's scholarship terminated, he/she will not be eligible to receive monthly salary.
- Complete the Online financial aid application and upload all the required documents for monthly salary before the deadline for the intended service.
- All students may track their online application approval status through Banner self-service.
In case the student is unable to pay his/her tuition fees and want to apply for tuition fees payment deferral to allow him/her register courses for next semester, the following conditions must be met:
- Submit the application during the deadline specified for the intended service, and no later than two week before early registration date for next semester based on the academic calendar.
- Only registered undergraduate students may apply for this service. Visiting, Non-degree, and graduate students are not allowed to apply for tuition fees payment deferral.
- The application should not be related to defer tuition fees payment for the student's first or last semester at the university.
- The service of tuition fees payment deferral does not include fines/penalties related to withdrawing from a course, courses or the whole semester.
- Applications to defer the payment of tuition fees are only received for fall and spring semesters. It is not allowed to defer the tuition fees payment for summer or winter semesters.
- The application must be related to deferring the tuition fees for the courses in which the student is registered during the same semester.
- The student is not allowed to submit a new tuition fees payment deferral application if he/she still owes fees to the university due to his/her previous tuition fees payment deferral application for the previous semester.
- The average income per family member out of the guardian's total income should not be over QR 2500. The monthly obligations that are deducted from the guardian's total income are the following: house rent, average monthly bills for electricity and water for last three months, monthly installments for bank loans, and monthly installments related to employer loans.
- The guardian's total salary mentioned in point number (8) is calculated as follow:
- In case both parents (father and mother) are working: The father's total salary and half of the mother's total salary will be calculated as the guardian's total salary.
- In case the mother is working while the father is absent for some reason (death, divorce, or any other reason), or he does not work and does not have a monthly income according to his bank statement for last 6 months: Half of the mother's total salary will be calculated as the guardian's total salary.
- The cumulative GPA for the student should not be less than 2.00/4.00.
- The total amount of tuition fees required to apply the application must not exceed QR 15,000 for eligible students starting from the second semester to the semester preceding the graduation year.
- The total amount of tuition fees required to apply the application must not exceed QR10.000 for eligible students expected to graduate by the end of the semester following the semester in which the application was submitted.
- The student should not be a beneficiary of a scholarship during the semester in which the application was submitted and he/she still owes fees to the university due to his/her previous tuition fees payment deferral application prior to the semester in which he/she obtained the scholarship. Therefore, the payment of the tuition fees will not be deferred again after getting the scholarship.
