Smoke Wears Many Faces.
Disease Does Not.How’s Work?
May 31st
World No Tobacco Day 2026, themed “Unmasking the Appeal – Countering Nicotine and Tobacco Addiction," highlights how nicotine products are deliberately designed not only for consumption, but also to attract and addict a new generation while concealing their harmful consequences. Tobacco is a leading cause of heart disease, cancer, chronic lung disease, and diabetes and kills 8+ million people globally every year. Eliminating smoking could avert over 2 billion years of life lost globally by 2050.
Smoking costs Qatar an estimated 4.4 billion Qatari riyals annually through healthcare expenditures, lost productivity and national development.
DIFFERENT PRODUCT.
SAME HARM.
Cigarettes, shisha, vapes, and medwakh, deliver nicotine addiction and toxic exposure.
In Qatar, tobacco causes hundreds of premature deaths annually.
Shisha smokers are more likely to develop heart disease.
