    Common Year Coordination

The common year at the QU Health Sector was implemented in the academic year 2018-2019, and is fundamentally described as the first official year for all the offered undergraduate programs at the Cluster. The main concept behind this year is to enhance the overall educational and financial effectiveness of the QU Health Cluster and to convey a greater utilization for existing resources in teaching, assessment, research, community service and others.

The common year mandates accepted students to enroll in particular first year courses before being eligible to pursue their majors across the five colleges. Once the students successfully complete the first semester of this common year, they are sorted and officially admitted into their selected majors.

    Common Year Courses:

The common year courses defined for all QU Health undergraduate programs comprise the four QU Health-owned courses:

      • Human Structure and Function I : HSF-I or MEDI101.
      • Human Structure and Function II: HSF-II or MEDI103.
      • Health Professions Education : HPE or MEDI102.
      • Biostatistics for Health Sciences: PUBH151.

The content of these courses is unified for all students across the common year, and the course syllabi accommodate needs of students from all QU Health colleges during their first year of study.
