Graduation Gown for Female Graduates

Gown Description

The unique design of the new graduation uniform is inspired by Qatar University's logo which symbolizes the intertwining of Islamic/Arabic heritage with the educational system, where the embroidered geometric shapes on the graduation cloak symbolize the authentic Islamic/Arabic heritage, which forms part of QU's logo and represents a symbol of pride. The maroon color symbolizes the State of Qatar's flag which corresponds to the history of the country and its civilizational dimension.

Graduation Gown Policies for Female Graduates – Class of 2025

Instructions for the Graduation Gown
  1. Female students must be graduates of the Class of 2025.
  2. Wearing the graduation gown is mandatory for all female graduates in the graduation ceremony.
  3. All graduates must wear the graduation gown throughout the entire ceremony.
  4. No modifications will be allowed to the gown design except for size modifications.
  5. Wearing any emblem or sash representing a country or organization is not permitted during the ceremony or when walking on stage.
  6. Wearing previous graduation gowns, with former designs is not permitted.
  7. It is recommended to wear comfortable clothing and suitable footwear for walking long distances inside the ceremony hall.

Policies for Purchasing the Graduation Gown

2. Payment Methods
  • All payment methods are accepted for gown purchase.
  • Graduates may use any available option, including credit/debit cards and other payment services (cash payment is not permitted.).
  • Female graduates who have not completed payment through the website will not receive gowns.
3. Return Policy
  • The amount paid cannot be refunded.
  • The size of the gown chosen through the electronic payment system cannot be exchanged with another size.
  • A graduate is allowed to purchase only one graduation gown.
4. Gown Pickup
  • The graduate can collect the outfit 48 hours after the electronic payment, at the designated locations during the announced distribution times.
  • Required documents upon collection:
    • Female graduates should present their QU ID card or Qatari ID card.
    • Female graduates should present the message that contains the e-payment receipt.
  • Another person can collect the uniform on behalf of the graduate, provided that the required documents are presented.

QU Male Graduation Bisht 
 

Graduation Gown for Male Graduates

Gown Description

The graduation attire consists of the black Qatari bisht, which is considered a unified symbol for all graduates and must be worn during the graduation ceremony.

Description of the Qatari Bisht:
  • A black, transparent men's cloak worn over traditional clothing (white thobe).
  • The attire includes a white ghutra and a black agal, where the agal is worn over the ghutra on the head.
  • The length of the bisht extends from the shoulders to the feet, and it is open in the front without sleeves, with two openings for the hands.
  • The bisht is adorned with golden thread (zari) along the edges.
  • How to wear the bisht:
    • Insert the right arm into the right sleeve of the cloak, and it is used for greeting and handshakes.
    • The left arm remains inside the cloak to hold its edges when moving or walking.
  • The bisht can be obtained from local markets in Doha.

Protocol for Wearing the Bisht at the Graduation Ceremony

First: Wearing the Bisht with Traditional Qatari Attire
  • Wear a white thobe, white ghutra, and black agal.
  • Wearing the black Qatari bisht is mandatory from the beginning to the end of the ceremony.
  • The graduate is not allowed to ascend the stage without wearing the bisht.
  • No logos or sashes representing any country or organization are allowed during the ceremony or when ascending the stage.
Second: Wearing the Bisht with a Formal Suit

If the graduate prefers to wear a formal suit instead of traditional attire, the following must be adhered to:

  • Wear a formal suit in navy blue or black.
  • Wear a white shirt.
  • Wear a maroon tie.
  • Wear black formal shoes.
  • Wear the black Qatari bisht over the formal suit.
  • Adhere to the official protocol and avoid wearing any unauthorized additions.
Important Notes:
  • ✅ Adhere to the official attire from the beginning to the end of the ceremony.
  • ✅ Do not make any alterations to the bisht design.
  • ✅ Avoid wearing any logos or sashes representing countries or organizations.
