    The training comprises a series of six mixed theoretical and practical sessions, covering topics from introductory zebrafish biology and ethical practices to advanced techniques in disease modeling, husbandry, embryo monitoring, and image analysis. Key speakers include Dr. Huseyin C. Yalcin (Head of the Zebrafish Facility), Dr. Himanshu Lajpat (Postdoctoral Researcher), Ms. Enas Al Absi, and Mr. Ahmed Elwan (Zebrafish Facility Technologists), ensuring participants receive expert guidance throughout the program. This training is mandatory for all students and researchers intending to use the Zebrafish Facility at the BRC.

    Professor Nigel McMillan, a prominent Principal Research Leader and Associate Director of the Institute for Biomedicine and Glycomics, Griffith University, delivered a session titled “RNA Therapies for the Treatment of Viruses and Cancer.” The presentation explored recent breakthroughs in RNA delivery, including siRNAs, mRNA, and CRISPR, to address a spectrum of disorders such as respiratory viruses (COVID-19 and influenza) and numerous malignancies. Professor McMillan specializes in developing RNA-based therapies for viral malignancies and advanced nanoparticle delivery systems for gene silencing and editing, presenting promising approaches to overcome current limits in RNA therapeutics.
