    The 9th Annual Health Research Forum: Advancements in Health Research – Bridging Basic and Clinical Sciences is QU Health Sector annual event designed to foster collaboration, showcase cutting-edge basic, translational and clinical research, and highlight the impact of interdisciplinary teamwork in advancing health sciences.


    This two-day event provides an opportunity for faculty members, students from the QU Health Sector, and affiliated clinical colleagues to present their research findings, exchange knowledge, and engage in meaningful discussions through formal scientific presentations. The forum also strengthens collaboration with key healthcare and research institutions, including Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), Sidra Medicine, and other stakeholders, promoting a multidisciplinary approach to addressing critical health challenges.


    Advancements in Health Research: Bridging Basic and Clinical Sciences

    This conference is designed to bring together healthcare professionals, educators, and researchers, to share knowledge and explore solutions to the most pressing healthcare challenges through collaborative research in areas of health professions education, mental health, precision medicine, drug design and delivery, metabolic and diabetes disorders and reproductive medicine.




    Specific Objectives:

    1. To discuss emerging technologies that improve HPE and strategies to streamline training for healthcare workflows using collaborative approaches.
    2.  To examine recent trends in personalized mental health interventions and strategies to integrate mental health support in chronic diseases care plans.
    3.  To discuss the advances in drug design and delivery and the use of AI-driven metabolomics in identifying biomarkers.
    4.  To describe the recent advancements in reproductive medicine and reproductive consequences of obesity in the population.
    5.  To discuss emerging application of genomics risk stratification and how pharmacogenetics optimizes patient-centered care.
    6.  To examine the advances in approaches to reduce the obesity rates at individual, national, and international levels.












    1st day: May 26th, 2025, I-11 Halls 1, 2 & 4

    • Keynote speech: Dr. Abdul Rauf (Director, Operations Clinical Trial Unit, Hamad Medical Corporation), Doha, Qatar.
    • Poster Exhibition and Evaluation. 
    • Dinner.

    2nd day: May 27th, 2025, I-11, Hall no. 4 (CPD Accredited)

    • Eight (8) Mic Drop graduate students oral presentations.
    • Six (6) presentations form selected Research Network Groups (Health Professions Education, Mental Health, the Drug Design, Development, and Delivery (3D), Reproductive Medicine, Precision Medicine, and Metabolic and Diabetes Disorder) from RNG leads and faculty members across QU Health colleges and BRC.

    Dr. Abdul Rouf Director, Operations Clinical Trial Unit, Hamad Medical Corporation 

    Dr. Abdul Rouf, PhD, currently serving as the Director of Operations for Clinical Trial Unit at HMC, overseeing Clinical Trial Management that includes supporting and facilitate all Clinical Trials conducted across HMC and still holds the responsibility of corporate Pharmacy & Therapeutic activities as well as Pharmacy Education. Previously, worked as the Assistant Director of the Pharmacy at Executive Pharmacy Directors office, in additional to his extended role as head of Drug information and Co-head of Continuing professional Development, Head of Pharmacy Practice Research and Director of research at the Women's Wellness and Research Center. He specializes in Medication safety practices including Adverse Drug Reactions, Medication Error, Quality and Patient safety and Continuing Professional Development. He served as a committee member in several committees including, Pharmacy& Therapeutic committee, Clinical guidelines, and other committees related to pharmacy profession at Ministry of Public health and Department Of Health Professionals. Dr Rouf has completed his MPharm in General Pharmacology; he also attained an MSc in Clinical Pharmacology and PhD from the University of Aberdeen, United Kingdom. He has also received, certifications in Clinical Toxicology & Drug Information from the University of Florida, and Purdue University USA, Additionally, trained in Pharmacovigilance from Uppsala Monitoring, Center, WHO-Sweden. Dr. Rouf has authored more than 90 publications with three book chapters and serves as reviewer for the numerous international high impact journals.

    Dr. Amal S. Al Omari Chief Scientific Officer, King Hussein Cancer Center

    Dr. Amal Al Omari holds a PhD degree in Clinical Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University of Iowa, USA. She has more than 25 years of experience spanning pharmaceutical research & development, academia, oncology research and research administration.

    In her capacity as the Chief Scientific Officer at King Hussein Cancer Center she reports to the Director General/Chief Executive Officer and leads the Office of Scientific Affairs & Research (OSAR); the main administrative body responsible for the management of all research operations at KHCC. OSAR hosts the KHCC’s Hospital-based Cancer Registry, the Center for Research Shared Resources (with a dedicated clinical trials unit) and the Center for Grants and Contracts Management. Dr. Al Omari is also responsible for review of institutional collaboration agreements, material transfer agreements, research grant agreements and all clinical trial contacts with CROs and pharmaceutical companies. Currently, she’s also the acting chair for KHCC's Research Council.
    Dr. Al Omari is a seasoned pharmacist and clinical researcher, with wealth of knowledge and experience in clinical research management and quality operations. Her research interests are mainly related to the epidemiology of Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs), in particular oncologic malignancies in Middle Eastern populations, especially in Jordan, in addition to research exploring genetic and epidemiologic predictors of outcome to cancer treatment among Jordanians and other Middle Eastern populations. Dr. Al-Omari authored or co-authored many peer-reviewed publications in prestigious medical journals as well as book chapters. She serves as a reviewer to a number of reputable scientific journals.
    Dr. Al Omari initiated a research quality assurance project at KHCC by establishing and implementing a comprehensive Human Research Protection Program. The program was awarded Full AAHRPP accreditation in June 2019 and KHCC was the first institution in Jordan and among very few cancer centers worldwide to have this quality designation. She also oversees strategic networking with leading institutions at the regional and international level to promote and advance clinical research activities, increase patient access to clinical trials, as well as research training and capacity building.

    Qatar Precision Health Institute (QPHI) is a national center for research and implementation under Qatar Foundation. 
    Its primary focus is to enhance precision healthcare quality and value through comprehensive study of genomics and multi-omics. 
    QPHI was conceptualized to leverage more than 10 years of valuable data collection, research, and ecosystem development accomplished by Qatar Biobank and Qatar Genome. The goal is to lead in preventing and curing health issues through personalized approaches, and consequently empower and enable precision health practices leading to healthy and vibrant communities.
