Greetings from the Foundation Program Department of English at Qatar University. The English 252 teaching team is pleased to welcome you to the Virtual Showcase of business ideas developed by our students as part of the
Spring 2025 Entrepreneurship Project.
This project is designed to encourage creativity, teamwork, and real-world application of business concepts by challenging students to develop innovative business ideas tailored to the Qatari market.
The showcase represents the penultimate phase in a comprehensive, multi-stage project. Throughout the course, students have:
- Explored key definitions and concepts of entrepreneurship
- Pitched original business ideas
- Collaborated in teams to complete detailed business reports
- Conducted market research with potential customers
- Presented their final business proposals

Course Overview: ENGL 252 — English for Business Communication
ENGL 252: English for Business Communication is an upper-intermediate course designed for students preparing for dynamic careers in the business world. The course develops advanced skills in reading, writing, listening, and speaking—each tailored specifically to business contexts.
Through a project-based, learner-centered approach, students engage with entrepreneurial content that promotes critical thinking, collaboration, and innovation. A central feature of the course is the Entrepreneurship Project, culminating in the Virtual Showcase—a platform where students present their original business ideas.
Originally introduced during the COVID-19 pandemic as an online event, the Virtual Showcase has returned to an in-person format since Spring 2023, giving students the opportunity to pitch their ideas in front of a live audience once again.

History of the Showcase
Since the inception of ENGL 252, the course team has organized a Showcase Event each semester, providing students with a platform to present their business ideas to a wider university audience.
Previously held in person every semester, the Entrepreneurial Showcase Event was last conducted face-to-face in Fall 2019 before transitioning online due to the COVID-19 pandemic until the Spring 2023. The Business English course team was thrilled to revive the in-person event, reintroducing this valuable hands-on learning experience. Its success was driven by the dedication of the course team, the collaboration of key partners, and the strong support of the Foundation Program management.
