Introduction

IP image
MAREN is an innovative pipeline rehabilitation system that enables the internal reinforcement of metallic pipelines using fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) composite liners installed with a reusable expandable elastic mandrel.
The technology introduces a controlled radial expansion mechanism that uniformly presses the composite liner against the inner wall of damaged pipelines during the curing process. Once curing is completed, the mandrel deflates and is removed, leaving behind a high-strength composite reinforcement layer that significantly improves structural performance and corrosion resistance.
By combining expandable mandrel technology with composite reinforcement, MAREN offers a cost-effective and sustainable solution for restoring aging pipeline infrastructure without full pipeline replacement.
The system has been prototyped and validated through burst, corrosion, and interfacial performance tests, demonstrating strong technical feasibility and industrial application potential (TRL 6).
