Introduction

The Colon Cancer Detector is an embedded, AI-driven biomedical device that performs real-time acquisition, analysis, and classification of colon biopsy images. By combining multispectral imaging (470–710 nm visible + IR) with advanced machine learning algorithms (SVM + Rotation-Invariant LPQ), the system recognizes and grades cancerous tissue with unprecedented accuracy.
Validated on 200 clinical biopsy samples from Al-Ahli Hospital, the device achieves up to 91.5% accuracy, reducing diagnostic subjectivity and accelerating early detection
This innovative system serves as an automated, compact, and intelligent tool that supports pathologists, reduces analysis time, and enhances precision in cancer diagnosis.

Real-Time Image Acquisition

Captures multispectral biopsy images with live view capability — a hardware and software novelty not available in existing pathology tools.

Multispectral Tumor Grading (470–710 nm + IR)

Uses 13 visible and 26 infrared wavelength bands to reveal tissue characteristics invisible to the human eye.

Automated Decision-Making (AI)

Uses Rotation-Invariant LPQ + SVM for classification of 4 tissue types: 
  • Normal
  • Hyperplastic Polyp
  • Tubular Adenoma (Low Grade)
  • Carcinoma Accuracy: 91.5%

Local Storage + Cloud Sharing

Stores all captured images inside the device with options for secure remote sharing to pathologists or hospital servers.

End-to-End Diagnostic Pipeline

Preprocessing → Feature Extraction → Classification → Report Generation — fully automated with email export.
