    About WSCUC

The WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC) is a California nonprofit public benefit corporation established for the purposes of accrediting senior colleges (bachelor’s degrees and above) and universities. The goal of accreditation is to ensure that institutions of higher education meet acceptable levels of quality.

WSCUC accreditation aids institutions in developing and sustaining effective educational programs and assures the educational community and the general public that an accredited institution has met high standards of quality and effectiveness.

Institutional accreditation involves a comprehensive review of all institutional functions. Institutional accrediting organizations, like WSCUC, accredit the institution rather than individual programs, although new programs are reviewed through the substantive change process.

    WSCUC 2022 Standards of Accreditation

The Standards are designed to advance quality, accountability, and improvement in service of equitable student learning, student success, and institutional effectiveness.

    The four standards are:

    • STANDARD 1: Defining Institutional Mission and Acting with Integrity
    • STANDARD 2: Achieving Educational Objectives and Student Success
    • STANDARD 3: Assuring Resources and Organizational Structures
    • STANDARD 4: Creating an Institution Committed to Quality Assurance and Improvement
